The Nobel Prize and Its Importance

by Maryam Vahidi

Have you ever noticed? Most well-known books are famous worldwide due to winning Nobel prizes. When we see a book that has won a Nobel prize, we say, “I need to read it.” even if we have no idea of what the Nobel is!?

Nobel is an international prize held every year to find the masterpieces in physics, literature, chemistry, medicine, economics, and promotion of peace, named from Sir Alfred Nobel‘s will of 1895, the most famous Swedish person in the world (1).

Every year, thousands of candidates worldwide participate in this foundation ceremony, and in the end, each category has a winner. Why is it important and why does everyone like to win this prize?

Importance of Nobel

As the prize for winners is special, it is considered a significant prize. This is not the only reason. The winner receives about 1m$ as well as a Nobel diploma representing the importance of the winner’s attempts and a Nobel medal.

  1. Winning Nobel brings high authority to the winners’ works.
  2. Nobel measures the significant hard work of individuals in different fields (2).
  3. It can have a global impact on the winner’s attempts and help people worldwide by introducing the masterpieces (3).
  4. It makes the researchers have more passion for making their efforts.
  5. Candidates try their best to follow humankind’s research (4).
  6. It represents the equity of races and gender in case of winning; only efforts matter.

The Nobel Prize still needs development. Because there are no prizes in such fields as mathematics, history, biology, etc. (5)
